.....and then there was a Blog!!!

Ah, the first post. After weeks of procrastination, I have finally bored myself enough to actually start a blog. A lazy week, an even lazier weekend, compounded further by the absence of the EPL, and a general lack of interest in the world that lies beyond the 4 walls of my kingdom, have all conspired to convince me to commit this act. So between frequent sleeping sojourns, i have managed to find some time to put pen to paper, rather finger to keyboard, and start a blog.

Since this is my first post (and particularly because i have no other topic in mind), its only fair that i dedicate it to explaining the blog itself. This blog will offer my lighthearted two cents on sports, politics(generally Congress bashing), Online Treasure Hunts, life and other issues worthy of comment.

Keeping this one short, but before i (B)log off, I would like to congratulate World Champion Viswanathan Anand for his fantastic achievement. His victory against Topalov with Black pieces in the last game is testimony to the genius that is V. Anand. Also, a huge roar for the 'only Singh of Rajasthan'. R.I.P B S Shekhawat. Only in India can the defeat of such a legend, to a lady known more for the excesses of her relatives, be hailed by the media.

Finally, i leave my readers with two must read(or watch) links. The first one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMophHw6iX4 , is the Fifa WC 2010 Theme song. A Wonderful composition and a treat to watch. The second, http://blogs.cricinfo.com/clogblog/archives/2010/05/pro_or_no_pro.php, is a delightful blog by a Dutch cricketer on the joys of amateur cricket. Recommended reading.

All comments and criticisms will be encouragements for further posts. So kindly let them flow. Until Next time, adios.

Knowing you since over 2.5 yrs now, you're the kind of personality who'd do well to express your tghts through words, coz I know in person you rarely talk unless you know somebody well enough :) Thats a pity though coz most of your tghts make sense!

So kudos to this blogpost, and good luck!

  2. And whts this with this cong bashing? How many more weeks is tht fat excuse of a party leader going to take to decide on jharkand? And isnt shekhawat the same guy who was so sidelined by his party, tht he may hv died more of depression than anything else. Even i wish to congratulate Vishy. He is like the Ganguly of chess. Can beat the topalovs and kramniks, but could never beat kasparovs & karpovs.

  3. @ Brij, FIRST COMMENT. Thnx Mate.

@ Mangu, you are right. On the Jharkhand issue, the BJP needs to show the urgency shown by Sheila Dikshit in extending the Parole of Manu Sharma while conveniently ignoring the 16 reminders of the MHA regarding Afzal guru. Or may be they should take a cue from the Congress in Meghalaya and end all confusion by saddling the state with 3 CMs all at the same time. and if they need lessons at governance then they need look further than Manipur where an economic blockade has raised the prices of essential commodities to Zimbabwean Levels. AFA Shekhawat is concerned, the BJP did indeed sideline him by nominating him for the highest constitutional post. Indeed, if elected, he would have been the only person from the party to hold a national level constitutional post today. How depressing!!!

  5. @saurabh, u indeed are quite amusing. shekhawat was nominated for presidential elections to take him out from active politics, since a defeat was certain as congress had majority. why wasnt he chosen over kalam, when bjp had majority.
And talking about decisions, yes i m sorry, i think its bjp who takes quick decisions. They didnt even blink while licking the feet of kandahar terrorists. Neither did they take time in supporting soren, whom they had always portrayed as a criminal.
And talking about 3 CMs, who started the trend of sangeet khurchis of CM in UP. Behen Maya and Bhai Kalyan.

  6. @Mangu, intresting to note that you haven't offered any explanation for either of Meghalaya/Manipur or Afzal guru. However, you have a real bright future as a Cong. spokesperson since you have followed their 3 point agenda perfectly 1.) Selective Loss of Memory: You remember that Shekhawat was nominated when BJP did not have majority but forget that before nominating him they had approached Kalam for a second term. It was only when he rejected it (because the Cong needed a rubber stamp more than a visionary), that the BJP turned to Shekhawat as he was the incumbent VP. Coming to Shekhawat, what beats me completely is how can a person be 'active' in politics as VP and become 'passive' after he is nominated for President. But i am sure 'Rahulji' must have some super intelligent logic to explain it which is beyond the comprehension of mere mortals like me. 2.) Spread misinformation: You remember that BJP supported Soren but forget that he was convicted when he was a Union minister of the UPA. When the BJP supported him, the high court had already absolved him due to shoddy by a certain investigative agency called the CBI. And regarding 'Behen Maya' and 'Bhai Kalyan' i cannot recall when they both shared the CM's chair at the same time. How that compares to the situation in Meghalaya is again beyond me. 'Rahul Baba' Logic again? 3.) Resort to decade old incidents like Kandahar and Godhra (you missed that one): Well the only, thing that we can learn from Kandahar Fiasco is that keeping terrorists alive opens the door for others to attempt hijacks and hostage situations. However, the Afzal Guru episode shows clearly that the Congress hasn't learnt those lessons yet.
